REVIEW
Mixed and brewed in Uganda is a motley collection of satiric comments on how Ugandans have struggled to cope with adverse and challenging situationsover the past three decades or so. The broad range of subjects it deals with include Ugandan English, popular culture, styles of dressing, money, politics and personal security, matters that should have a wide appeal to Ugandas and those interested in things Ugandans. The book is distinguished by brevity and sharp (and sometimes savage) humour. In writing this book, Onyango- Obbo has pulled off yet another rare feat.
Charles Onyango-Obbo was born in Mbale,, eastern Uganda. He was previously the Managing Editor of The Monitor in Uganda. He is now a Managing Editor with the National Media Group in Kena, and also a columnist for the Daily Monitor, the Daily Nation and The East African, in Nairobi. His last book was Uganda’s poorly Kept Secrets.
